Mr. Brian Hessey

Mr. Hessey is the HEAD OF SCHOOL for Gateway Online Academy. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors in Comprehensive Social Studies/Secondary Education and received his Masters in Educational Administration from Ashland University. Mr. Hessey has served in education 35 years; 22 years as a teacher, 2 years as Assistant Principal, 1 year as Director of Special Education, 9 years as Principal and 1 year as Head of School. He has worked with at-risk youth most of his career and looks forward to continuing to do so at Gateway Online Academy of Ohio. Brian and his wife Victoria reside in Portage Lakes, Ohio.

Mr. Martin Yoder

Mr. Yoder is the PRINCIPAL of Gateway Online Academy. He graduated from Malone University with a Bachelors in Mathematics, received his Masters in Educational Administration from Ashland University, and is currently working towards a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership. Mr. Yoder has served in education for over twenty-seven years; 17 as a mathematics teacher, six years as a high school principal, and four years as an associate middle school principal. He has worked with rural and city schools where he assisted in bringing career programs and post-secondary educational opportunities, worked with a mentoring program, supported socio-emotional learning and mental health programs, and facilitated a cooperative with a college to provide tutors for economically disadvantaged and struggling students. He is excited about this school year working with staff and students, helping all students be successful at Gateway Online Academy and helping students reach their goals.

Shaquila Horne

Mrs. Horne is the ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL for Gateway Online Academy. She graduated from the University of Akron and received her masters from Grand Canyon University. She has several years’ experience as an English teacher and three years as a building administrator. This is Shaquila’s first year with Gateway. She is very committed to helping ALL students succeed, regardless of the challenges they’ve faced.

Christina Lamorgese

Christina dedicates her time to students as the STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR at Gateway Online Academy. She is passionate about impacting the lives of young people. After graduating with her Bachelor of Science from Kent State University in 2017, Christina served as an AmeriCorps Member with City Year Cleveland ‘18-‘20 in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.  It was there she became enthusiastic about empowering and advocating for youth, motivating her to continue to explore her work in education.

Jessica Brown

Jessica is the OPERATION MANAGER for Gateway Online schools. She also serves as Regional Assistant Director of Operations for Accel Schools – Ohio Online schools. She worked in the Public School system for 6 years as a Special Education/Curriculum Secretary and EMIS Coordinator then made the move 4 years ago to the Virtual School setting. She started as Office manager and is now the Operations Manager. She is here to help support staff and most importantly the students and their families. Jessica is here to answer any questions or help you in any way she can.

Kristal Lockwood

Kristal Lockwood is the SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR here at Gateway. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University. She is married and has 4 children one dog, 2 grandchildren and 2 grand pups. She and her husband are avid Notre Dame and Cleveland Guardians fans. Her family enjoys camping, watching sports and spending time together. She has 20 years of education. She has dedicated her career to students with exceptionalities both as a teacher and an administrator. Kristal has 5 years working in the virtual environment.
