Hello, my name is Stephanie Gardner, and I am the 10th grade Success Coach for the 23/24 school year. I am from Cleveland, OH, born and bred, and a product of Cleveland Public Schools. I am still very connected with my high school as the Vice President of the John Hay Alumni Association. I obtained an Associate of Applied Business (Information Technology – Information Application Specialist) from Cuyahoga Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction/Education Technology from Cleveland State University. This school year marks my 36th year in Education (YIKES)! I love meeting and working with students. Although it can be quite challenging, the relationships I have built over the years make it worth it! I have twin sons, Jamal Austin and Jerrod Amir, and I am a caregiver for my mother, who is 92 and still loves to get in the kitchen to cook and bake for her family when she can. I love to travel when I can (although I have not been out of the country yet because I have a limit on how far I feel comfortable flying, lol). Seafood is my favorite food. I love family gatherings and love to read, but I can only do it when I have absolutely nothing else to do because nothing else gets done if I get caught up in a good book!! I LOVE ALL THE LAW AND ORDERS, CHICAGO SHOWS, AND ABBOTT ELEMENTARY.

I am Mrs. Hardy, a CBI/CTE Instructor here at Gateway. I was born and raised in the Cleveland area, where I graduated high school at Whitney M. Young. I continued my education at Cleveland State University, earning my bachelor’s in health science and my master’s in educational technology. I have 3 children, 2 girls who are 4 and 11, and my son is 13 years old. I also have a Pitbull named Scar and a Russian Blue cat named Ganchu (my daughter named him when she was 3:). I enjoy being a traveling AAU mom, and although it is hectic at times, my family enjoys our adventures. My favorite vacation destinations are Jamaica, Florida, and Mexico. Although I am not into sports, I enjoy watching my son play basketball and watching the Cavaliers. I love working at Gateway because I enjoy helping kids. Working virtually allows me to reach many more kids I wouldn’t have access to otherwise.

Hello everyone! My name is Mr. Huffman. I was born and raised in Sidney, Ohio, a town north of Dayton in the middle of corn fields. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati and have been working with Accel Schools for a year and a half. This school year, I will teach Biology, Physical Science, and Music Appreciation. Molly Maurer graduated from Stark State College with a degree in English Composition and from the University of Akron with a degree in education. She was homeschooled up until college, so she knows personally the benefits and challenges of doing school in an non-traditional setting. This is her second year at Gateway, and she is excited to help her students succeed again this year. A fun fact about her is that she has grapheme-color synesthesia, which means she sees letters and numbers in color.

My Name is Mr. McIntyre, and this is my 12th year as a teacher! I grew up in North Canton and graduated from Hoover High School in 2008. I also attended the University of Mount Union, where I graduated (2012) with a bachelor's degree in history, and Ashland University, where I graduated (2017) with a master's degree in education. I live in Northeast Ohio on the shores of our beautiful Lake Erie. I’ve taken classes in schools from Madrid to Cuernavaca, most recently completing a language course in Slovenia this past summer. My M.Ed. is in Special Education from Kent State University. My husband and I love hiking and traveling. I have two adult children who live nearby and often join us on our adventures. Working at Gateway has allowed me to meet many amazing students with inspiring stories of their own.
I’m looking forward to the new school year!

My name is Lauren Powell, and I am from Wooster, Ohio. I received my bachelor's degree in education and family sciences from The Ohio State University. I am married, and my husband and I have two little girls. We have a mini Goldendoodle, Max, who we just adore! For fun, we like to go to sporting events and travel around with our girls!

I have been a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, and I enjoy spending time with my family, watching football, and eating (I love my family, football, and food). I have been married for 20 years, and my wife and I have a 10-year-old son. I attended Malone University and Kent State University. I have experience as a detention officer, social worker, online tutor, preschool teacher (the hardest job ever), substitute teacher, parent mentor, and interviewer for the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. My favorite part about teaching for Gateway is connecting with students and helping them find success. World History is my content area, but students are my focus.

Ms. Ross is a 10th grade English teacher entering her third year with Gateway and her fifth year of teaching. She graduated from Miami University in 2018, and when she wasn’t studying education, she spent her free time performing with an all-female a cappella group called the TrebleMakers. As a native Cincinnatian, Ms. Ross loves the Reds and, most importantly, the reigning AFC North champs, the Cincinnati Bengals. WHO DEY!

I am Muriel Suttles, a licensed social worker. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Antioch McGregor College and my graduate degree from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Social Work. I enjoy traveling to perform, modeling, and line dancing for exercise in my free time. Fun fact: my free time usually includes hanging out and creating new, exciting, fun experiences with my great-nieces and nephews!!!

I was born in the Cleveland area, grew up in Athens, and currently live in the Columbus area. Go, Browns! Go, Guardians! Go, Cavs! Go, Bobcats! Go, Blue Jackets! I received my B.S. and M.A. in Geography and my M.Ed. in Integrated Social Studies from Ohio University. My name is Mr. Craddieth, and I am the high school senior success coach. I am a huge Michigan fan and grew up in Michigan (GO BLUE). This year is my 15th in education, and I enjoy learning, growing, and molding minds. Some of my hobbies include attending volleyball games, watching college football, and reading books related to historical facts about the world. One thing I like most about my job is connecting with students and encouraging them to think "outside the box."

I am starting my 10th year teaching and am very happy to be at Gateway. I have two daughters who are grown and busy working. Between my husband, my two daughters, and myself, we have three dogs. They keep us very busy! We also went on vacation to St. Louis, MO, this summer. Also, I love to read and like to spend time talking with others about books on Booktube.

I am Rose Morris. This is my 8th year teaching. I have taught High School Special Education virtually for all 8 years! I was born and raised in Toledo and graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in Special Education. I have worked at Gateway since last year, and I love to talk to the diverse population of students and learn new things from them. I am a wife and mother of 3 daughters, all under the age of 10. It’s hectic at my house. I live on a farm; we currently have a ton of chickens and a cat we call Tiger. I love to garden, and we are starting to build our orchard. In my free time, I like to… well, if I had free time, I would be trying new recipes and going on adventures with my family, including big travel and mini trips. My favorite thing about our family (besides the people) is our non-negotiable rule for our travel/trips. Everyone on our trip is required to try something new. It can be a new food or experience, but something you have never done. We keep learning as a priority in our family.

Mirela Pashaj is a graduate of Cleveland State University. Mirela has served over 17 years in education as a math teacher, coach, and adjunct faculty. I’m your 10th grade School Counselor with Gateway Academy. I’m originally from Pennsylvania; I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, where I completed my schooling. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and a Master’s in School Counseling. After spending much time in the lab, it was clear that I was passionate about the human experience, especially connecting with others, and wanted to pivot to a more person-centered field. I moved to Ohio in the last few years with my first counseling position, and I’m enjoying it so far! One of my favorite activities is thrifting and antiquing in the city. I have a younger brother who I’m very close with, two silly cats, and a young daughter that my world absolutely revolves around. I love to travel; I studied Italian for four years when I was younger, and, as it turns out, Italy is my absolute favorite place in the world. In any free time left over to myself, I explore many hobbies that allow the freedom of creative expression. I love to paint, draw, dance, knit, write, collage, photograph, digital design, teach, and more; I’ve even written two books. New Girl is my favorite show of all time. Green is my favorite color. I collect bottle caps, bookmarks, and memorabilia from my adventures with my family. Who am I? I’m almost thirty years old and still believe in the magic in the world.

I am new to the state of Ohio. Recently, I moved from Florida, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences from Florida Atlantic University. Shortly after that, I earned a Master’s degree in Education Technology. I have more than 15 years of high school teaching experience. One of the main reasons I love teaching is my students’ genuine, good-natured character. They make my day a happier one. Finally, I have been married for 35 years and have two grown children, two young grandchildren, and two dogs. It has been a pleasure working with the Gateway community.

I'm from Stark County, Ohio. I attended the University of Mount Union, where I obtained degrees in Biology and Life Science Education. I teach Health and Physical Education as well as Character Education. I grew up in Toledo, Ohio, where I continued my education at the University of Toledo. After obtaining my degree, I started teaching in sunny Las Vegas! Now, with 2 children(5 and 3 years old), we have settled back in Ohio, where we have 5 chickens, 2 rabbits, and 1 dog. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. We enjoy taking golf cart rides down our country roads. If I am not teaching or spending time with my family, you will find me at Target or a thrift store!

This is my first year at Gateway, but not my first year teaching students virtually. I have 13 years of experience as an online teacher and 5 years of experience teaching at a traditional brick-and-mortar high school. Growing up, I attended Northmor High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education at The Ohio State University. A couple of years later, I decided to earn my Master of Teaching and Learning from Kaplan University as an online student. At Ashland University, I took courses to become a licensed Intervention Specialist, then returned to OSU for my Career Based Intervention Endorsement. My husband and our dog and 5 cats reside in Galion, OH. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, baking, sewing, crafting, shopping, and being outdoors. I look forward to working with the students and families of Gateway! Students, no matter what, don't give up! When you become frustrated, I encourage you to contact me or another Gateway staff member instead of quitting. Together, we will work through the obstacles.

I grew up in a small town in northwest Ohio. I attended Bowling Green State University, where I met the love of my life, now my husband of 18 years. I never imagined I would come back to northwest Ohio, but I returned here to teach. I taught junior high and high school English for almost 20 years. During that time, I obtained two master’s degrees in teaching. I am happy to be with Gateway as an English Intervention and Mythology teacher. Outside of school, I love to hang out with my family, which includes two girls and two boys, ages 16, 13, 10, and 7. I also have a big German Shepherd who only loves me and an embarrassingly large number of cats. When we meet, you can try to guess how many! We are a football family! You can catch me watching my son play on his 8th grade team or at home rooting for the Browns! We stay busy with our kids’ activities, such as soccer, volleyball, football, and art. My daughters love anime and often cosplay for fun, while my sons love video games such as Fortnite, COD, and FNAF. I would love to get to know you more, too. I hope to see you in the classroom!
